Over the weekend....

It is FIINNNAAAALY starting to feel like Fall. This weekend was cool, rainy, and gloomy. I am sure that weekends like this will get old in a few months, but it was a welcomed change from the heat! As we spend more time inside than usual due to weather, this momma is going to have to come up with more fun crafts for the kiddos. Friday was one of the first cloudy, rainy days in a long time. We spent time doing puzzles, cuddling and I finally started on Chloe's Halloween costume (stay tuned for more on that!).

On Saturday, we got up Very early to go see the hot air balloons lift off for ClovisFest! So fun to see all of these kiddos together.

And it is sooo fun to wave goodbye and cheer for each one as the fly away.

During the street fair, we came across the Greyhound Rescue booth. These girls couldn't get enough of the sweet dogs.

We also got a few hours in at Nana's house.

On Sunday, we finally carved our pumpkins!

This was the first and last time Luke put his hand inside the pumpkin, lol.

Chloe was a great pumpkin-goop-cleaner-outer :)

On to pumpkin # 2. I spy two spooky spiders :)

Throw Back Thursday- Halloween 2015

As Halloween is just around the corner, I have spent sometime going back and looking at pictures from the previous years. Kids change so much as this age, I love photographing everything and see how they change the following year. Last year we had two VERY excited kids for Halloween, well Luke was excited and Chloe was excited because Luke was, lol.

I don't think Luke remembered much about carving a pumpkin from the year before, but he still didn't like the gooey seeds.

At some point his smiles will more, well, smiley right?

Got the top off, time to get our hands dirty!

Chloe's turn....

 Luke's turn...

I bought a carving kit a few days after Halloween 2014 for half off and saved it a whole year before using it.  Yup I'm that kind of mom :)

Finally, it was time to start the masterpiece.

This girl, so cute!

Took this one later in the night, Love that face!

Ta Da!!!

We love our pumpkin :)
He still smiles like this...

Props to the hubby for this spooooky pumpkin!

When Halloween Day came around, we visited with our good friends and went trick-or-treating with them. Luke was a Firefighter and Chloe was a Fairy. Luke's was a hand-me-down costume from a cousin, and he still uses it for dress up today. Chloe's was basically thrown together, the crown is mine- yup, MINE- the onesie was already hers, the wings are from the dollar store (along with the wand that she didn't want to carry around) and I made her tutu for her 1st Birthday! Easiest costume ever :)

The three trick-or-treaters! A fairy, a firefighter and a scarecrow.

He wasn't too fond of the hat....

Off we went to visit some houses....
This is life with two kids, she smiles in one...

And he smiles in the other...

The kiddos did a great job walking through the neighborhood, ringing doorbells, saying Trick-or-Treat and MOST IMPORTANTLY, saying thank you! I am so excited to see what it is like this year. We will have a soccer player and a unicorn (or if my talent gets the best of me a Firefighter, lol).

Spooky Spiders Craft

With Halloween coming up in less than a week, I realized we hadn't done any Halloween crafts. As you know, I am really, really good a trying things.. see here, here, and here. But I am NOOO Pinterest mom, just trying to get by on my mediocre crafting skills. Lucky for me, my kids just love creating, no matter how it looks! So, last night, we got busy on a fun craft to make spiders.

You probably have most of the items needed lying around.
We used:
2 Paper Plates
Yellow, White and Black paint
Paint Brushes
A Hole Punch
Yarn (All I had yellow or pink :) )

We started by painting the plates orange

Folks, the most photogenic kids in all the land..... oh man, these kids are silly.

Next, the fun part. I painted the palms and 4 fingers of each hand to make the legs and body of the spider. Don't paint the thumb, it becomes an alien at that point :) Here is Luke's...

Chloe's - I also love projects that show their size in some way. We can look back and see how little her 2-year-old hands were.

All done with making the spiders

I used a q-tip and white and black paint to make the eyes, but you can also use googly eyes.

To make the web, punch holes around the edge of the plate.

Then, we used the yarn and pulled it through the holes to make the web. The kids were able to chose where the yarn would go to make their own webs.

And you are finished! Your very own spider with a web.

Have fun and Happy Crafting!
