I an not Martha Stuart. I am, however, a Try-er. Some people are DIY-ers, but I don't always fall into that category. I recognize my own limits and yet take chances that are new projects that I pray I can handle. Sometimes I fail ( i.e. the Rice Krispie Treat Fiasco/Breakdown of 2014) but other times I actually surprise myself. I know what you are thinking, it's not like I am recreating the Sistine Chapel here. Nope, just tying fabric on some string, but darn it I am going to take my victories where I can get 'em.
I originally had the brilliant idea to cut fabric strips and make a crib skirt out of them. I loved how it turned out, but cribs don't last forever.
As my baby girl will soon be out growing her crib (WHAT!), I figured the best thing to do was to repurpose the fabric into a garland. Here is a Try-ers version of a fabric garland....
I went to Joann Fabric and purchased remnants of three different fabrics that I thought would be fun and bright for a little girl's room. I then cut the fabric into 1-inch strips. Note- I did not measure, just eye-balled it.
You can use ribbon or twine to hang the garland. I happened to have a ton of pink yarn from a previous project, so I used that. Cut a piece much longer then you think you will need, some prefer to leave the yarn/twine/ribbon to hang on the sides. Take your fabric strip and fold it in half, place the fold behind the yarn.
Then, take the two ends and pull them through the loop between the yarn and the fold of the fabric.
Simply pull and you are done!
I am still working on the design of Chloe's room, so I hung this in a different spot just to show how it will look.
This Try-er is very pleased about the outcome and I cannot wait to get her room put together so this can be hung. Expect a post soon showing off her new room.

Here is a close up of a small portion of my fabric garland.
